Partnering with the Ecuador Mission Immersion

UBC is participating in some exciting missions around the world. Not only are we partnering in the work of CBF field personnel that are engaging in ministries, such as ending human trafficking and providing sustainable farms, but we are also engaging in these ministries with our hands. This summer, we will send mission immersion teams to Atlanta and Ecuador.

The Atlanta team will work with children do minor construction and repairs, participate in social ministries, help with indoor and outdoor work, and participate in meal preparation. We will be partnering with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, Project Open Hand, Georgia Avenue Food Cooperative/Urban Recipe, Gateway Center, and various non-profit organizations and ministries.

The Ecuador team will build water filtration systems, help provide dental and medical care, work with children, and care for indigenous churches. We will be partnering with Rescate Ecuador, a ministry organized by Marco Vinicio and his family, who have been serving the Chimborazo region for two generations. Their work focuses on health, education, farming, and social care.

Many will not be able to physically go on the trip. However, you are invited to partner with these ministries. Here are a few potential opportunities of partnership.

For Ecuador, we will be collecting hygiene items for the trip, including: tooth brushes, tooth paste, dental floss, feminine products, pocket containers of lotion, bars of soap, Band Aids, individual alcohol wipes, nail filers, and wash clothes.

In addition, consider sponsoring one of the ministry projects as an individual, Sunday School class, or small group. The water filtration system ($200 per system) will provide clean water to nearly 1,000 people over a period of a few years. The ministry to children will need $200, while the various construction projects will need $500. You could also help provide financial assistance for team members by donating to the Ecuador Mission fund.

For Atlanta, the tangible ways to support are still forming. We will soon collect ministry items and food supplies for the trip.

W

e invite you pray for these teams and our church as we engage in God’s mission around the world.
